Fullish ruby and the deepest colored in this group of ’01 Volnays.  Dense and rich without a trace of undue weight or opacity.  Incisive and fragrant: raw meat and hibiscus.  Tastes like morello cherries – quite an accomplishment for ’01 Volnay!   Still some tannin, ripe and fine-grained.  Almost Syrah-like.   Fine grip and nuanced detail at the end; just not as mineralic at her Santenots.   You can still keep this.  Now – 2018+.
