Luminous garnet. This is one of Lucien’s three sirloin parcels and it’s the picanha cut, finely marbled with a gorgeous fat-cap centimeters thick, rendered over time to a succulent done-ness. Antique-y with an old-leather patina; fondued berry fruit with a consoling sweetness; a billowing metallic sheen, with serpentine layers of forest floor, rusty sienna, bloody iron and carbonized earth. Keen and articulate minerality at the end. A ravishing wine with polytonal detail and animation. Certainly well into full-maturity so think about drinking soon. But oh, what a savory wine!
