Château Lilian Ladouys, Saint-Estèphe 2009

Kirkcrest Imports, Danville CA.

Ten years on.

Ruby.  Oak vanilla and a high tone of purple iris hovers above blackberry fruit.  In size and weight this is more like a Margaux than a Saint-Estèphe.  It has a good heart, the cassis fruit runs freely with a nudge of licorice.  Ripe tannins that develop darkness and strength as it finishes.  Shows the minerality of Saint-Estèphe along its second half, a gravel and sandstone seam that is authentic.  Now – 2030.
