Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron, Romanée Saint Vivant Grand Cru 1990

Ruby. It has a round, shapely nose that flirts with forested notes. It shows a rich, ripe core of plum tart, luxardo cherry, Vosne spices, star anise, has an appealing pistachio nuttiness. The palate charts a similar course to the nose, has a rather sultry, soaked flavor. The texture is rich, spherical, and the sap is good. It’s taken on fungal undertones, and has the flavor of fine morello cherry fruit laced with smoke. It extends with a secure step, with a tinkle of tannin and mineral late moments that grip. Will continue to age well on its matière. Now – 2040+.
