Tulip yellow. Starts coolly, is lightly reduced, struck-matchy, has continuous flow to its stone fruit, tupelo honey, and wild herb profile. The palate is lively, the details accumulate into a fine ensemble, it’s showing the most detail and depth of any of the other 2014 Combettes. Very long towards the finish, has space to fly further, is extremely complex. The aftertaste is saline, carries rocky tones. It’s high interest wine, well worth the study. Now – 2035+.
From a .7 ha holding of 40-year-old vines, with lots of ‘shot’ berries (millerandes). Small bunches, low yields.
