Domaine Joseph Drouhin (Véronique Drouhin-Boss), Vosne-Romanée Les Petits Monts 1er Cru 2001

Twenty five years on.

Fox red. The wine presents a striking combination of purity, aromatic intensity, and composure. The nose is electric and high-toned, offering an intoxicating blend of Vosne spice, mineral accents, and beautifully defined red, black, and dark blue fruits.

On the palate, the wine achieves a compelling balance between power and finesse. Fine-grained tannins and bright, energizing acidity create a polished yet dynamic texture. Despite its evident concentration, the wine feels graceful and fluid, with an impression of vibrancy that seems to increase with air. The flavors are layered and refined, showing both depth and precision.

Now fully in its prime drinking window, the structure has resolved into a supple, harmonious whole. The finish is exceptionally long and poised, echoing spice and elegant fruit with remarkable verve. A beautifully expressive and stylish Petits Monts. A domaine-owned parcel of .39ha, from two plots mid-slope on each end of the vineyard, one in the southern portion by Aux Reignots (next to Comte Liger-Belair’s vines), the other plot is located in the northern section by Cros Parantoux. Now – 2035+.
