Godmé Père et Fils, Brut Réserve 1er Cru Verzenay Non Vintage

Imported by Vineyard Road, Framingham MA.

50% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir, 5% Pinot Meunier from eleven hectares across Montagne de Reims (Pinot Noir from Verzenay, Chardonnay from Villers-Marmery).  Malo blocked and up to 40% of the wine is raised in wood (oak foudre).  Disgorged: August 2012.  Dosage: 7 g/l.  2013 release.

Yellow-gold. Old-fashioned resonance in style and the virility of Verzenay dominates the blend, drinking you in, pissing you out.  More fruit than berried; this release is a pear bomb.  Wheat toast, clotted cream and hazelnut and he trails a vinous finish, deep with the sea’s conviction.  Now – 2020+.
